NFL picks: Week 7 Comments
Last week: 7-7 (60-30 overall)
I’m blaming it on the coin. The St. Louis Rams, who I (foolishly) picked to beat Jacksonville last week, lost 23-20 in overtime.
I dubbed it my underdog-pick of the season. It would have been an impressive prediction had the Jaguars not won the coin toss in overtime and drove down to kick the game-winning field.
Stupid coin. I’m sure that if the Rams would have won that toss, they would have ridden Steven Jackson down into the Jags territory and won the game.
It just wasn’t my week. I went 7-7, which is just unacceptable. I have my head on straight for week seven. Check it out.
Sunday
Colts at Rams: I’m done picking St. Louis until they prove they can win a game. It wouldn’t matter in this game though. There’s no team in the league I would pick against the Colts, who are coming off a bye. Indy by a lot.
Vikings at Packers: This is a dandy. Pittsburgh has some flaws, obviously, but it’s tough not to pick them at home. But I’m going to go with the hot hand, Minnesota. They have the most balanced team in the league, and I think they’ll edge the Steelers.
Patriots at Buccaneers: Tom Brady threw five touchdown passes in the second quarter – yes, the second quarter- in New England’s 59-0 drubbing of Tennessee last week. They will embarrass Tampa Bay this week too.
49ers at Texans: Matt Schaub is rather quietly putting together an unbelievable season. I think he’ll lead the Texans to a win over the overrated 49ers.
Packers at Browns: There is nothing to like about Cleveland. Nothing. So the Pack is the pick.
Chargers at Chiefs: I don’t think I’m going to pick Kansas City to win a game the rest of the season. They’re not good. The problem is, San Diego doesn’t seem to be good either. They should be, but they’re not. I’ll give them the edge over the Chiefs, though, I guess.
Jets at Raiders: New York looked like it just didn’t want to win last week against Buffalo. The game went into overtime and both teams played extremely poorly. Oakland, on the other hand, beat Philly last week. Nobody could have predicted that. I’ll go with the Raiders.
Bills at Panthers: I’ve just realized that there are some really bad games this week. This is definitely one of the them. I’ll go with Carolina at home.
Bears at Bengals: There’s nothing worse than an average team posing as a good team and then losing a game it should have won. Because of that, I am going to take Chicago.
Falcons at Cowboys: Atlanta looks really good, as expected. Like the Vikings, the Falcons also have a really balanced team. But I have a hunch. I’ll take the Cowboys at home.
Saints at Dolphins: This is an interesting game. It might look like an easy win for New Orleans, but Miami is better than its 2-3 record suggests. I still see the Saints winning, though.
Cardinals at Giants: This should be a fun one. New York got outplayed by the Saints last week and Arizona handled Seattle rather easily. I’m going with the Giants because of the home-field advantage.
Monday
Eagles at Redskins: The Monday night games really haven’t been that good so far this year. This is another one. I don’t like Washington at all, even at home. Philly should win.
