NFL picks: Week 8 Comments
Last week: 8-5 (68-35 overall)
Look at them. Apparantley these guys are buddies.

I missed the first matchup between Brett Favre and his old team, so there’s no way I’m going to be pried away from my TV this time.
There’s really no reason for Favre and Rodgers not to like each other. It’s not like Rodgers personally pushed Favre out of Green Bay. As far as I know, they go golfing together every weekend in the off-season.
However, there is plenty of reason for Green Bay to hate Favre. For 16 years, he WAS Green Bay. Now he’s the enemy. And it’s going to unfold like an Oscar-winning drama for everyone to see on Sunday.
I think a lot of people forget that Rodgers is a really good quarterback. It’s not like he’s the consolation prize in all of this. And I think he’s going to want to prove that against the 6-1 Vikings.
I’m taking the Packers at Lambeau.
Dolphins at Jets: I generally don’t trust teams with rookie quarterbacks, even if it’s everybody’s favorite rook Mark Sanchez. Miami put up a good fight against the undefeated Saints last week and, frankly, they should have won. I think the Dolphins will get it done this week on the road.
Giants at Eagles: This one is impossible to pick. Impossible. You can’t tell me otherwise. All of a sudden the Giants look vulnerable and are playing on the road against a solid team. It’s hard to predict how these two teams will play from week to week. I just can’t imagine the Giants losing three in a row, so I’m predicting they’ll put it together and beat the Eagles.
Broncos at Ravens: Baltimore, at 3-3, is favored by three points against Denver, which is 6-0. That tells you a little about what playing at home in the NFL means. I’m starting to come around on Denver, but I’ll still take Baltimore in this one.
Texans at Bills: Houston is talented, no question. But they have a tendency to underachieve. I think they’ll play poorly this week because of the cold weather in Buffalo, but I think the Bills will play worse. Texans will win.
Browns at Bears: Chicago was spanked last week by Cincinnati. It’s a perfect time to play the Browns. They’ll get their confidence back. I think most division I college football teams would have a shot at beating Cleveland right now. Chicago is the pick.
Seahawks at Cowboys: I think after this season, it’s time for Seattle to make a lot of changes. Draft a quarterback and get him ready to replace Hasselbeck. Draft a running back and get him ready, too. This team doesn’t look good. They won’t beat Dallas.
Rams at Lions: They have a combined record of 1-12. This is the week St. Louis gets its first and only win of the season. Everybody beats the Lions. Well, except for the Redskins, who have created another level of embarrassing. Rams will win.
49ers at Colts: Nobody is beating Indy at home. Nobody. Colts by a lot.
Jaguars at Titans: There’s reports that Vince Young might be starting for the Titans this week. If so, I can already tell you how it will unfold. Young will turn the ball over a couple of times and end up with average numbers, but Tennessee will get its first win because they’re playing against Jacksonville, which is not good. Everybody will claim that Young is the quarterback of the future and he should have been playing all along. Then after a few more games, everyone will again realize, for like the millionth time, that Young is just not good. Titans will win.
Raiders at Chargers: Oakland looked about as bad as Cleveland last week. ‘Nuff said. I’ll take San Diego.
Panthers at Cardinals: Arizona played surprisingly well against the Giants last week. And even more surprisingly, their defense played well. I’ll take Arizona at home because the Panthers are not good.
Monday
Falcons at Saints: Finally a Monday night game I’m looking forward too (Besides Packs-Viks, which I didn’t get a chance to see). New Orleans is playing with a lot of confidence. I think that goes a long ways. Atlanta is solid, but I’m taking the hot hand. Give me the Saints.
