It was such a thrill, but, of course, there were a few challenging moments.

When I first climbed into the kayak, I almost tipped it over, and within seven minutes I crashed after accidentally floating into a current.

It wasn’t the best start.

But I got better and better as the day went on.

Jeff and I spent seven hours on the Calapooia River, constantly paddling.

I couldn’t tell you how many branches I took to the face. Too many to count.

I wore sunscreen, but I don’t think I applied any to my knees. My knees are crispy, making every move I make fairly painful.

But it was worth it.
